Windsor Park

Living in Living in Windsor Park
Bound by 51st Street to the south and Highway 290 to the north, Windsor Park is among the most rapidly changing neighborhoods in the city. The true character of this burgeoning neighborhood lies in the stories of its longtime residents and unique local gems.

Attractions in the area include:

Delicious Grub – Eat like a Windsor Park local and hit up one of the best restaurants in the neighborhood, Paco’s Tacos. Enjoy delicious tacos, a great outdoor patio and the friendliest staff in town. If you’re looking for an amazing hole-in-the-wall restaurant, look no further than Cuban Sandwich Cafe. (The name says it all.) Hill-Bert’s Burgers is another local favorite, an old-school family-owned burger joint that’s been serving Windsor Park since 1973.

Hangouts – Nomad offers a no-fuss atmosphere, impressive lineup of local beers on tap and one of the best trivia nights in the city. Then, visit Carousel Lounge, one of the most unusual bars in Austin, complete with, yes, a carousel as a bar and circus-themed decor. Definitely one for the bucket list. Windsor Park’s only coffee shop, Corona Coffee, has been brewing fresh cups of joe for the past seven years and is arguably the most popular spot for neighborhood meetups.

Explore the outdoors – Bartholomew District Park is the star of Windsor Park, playing host to disc golf, a creek, playground, picnic areas and the sprawling, but often overcrowded, Bartholomew Pool. The park has a long history of neighborhood investment, with volunteers donating their money and sweat to make it what it is today. Just a short walk from there is the Blue Starlite drive-in, considered one of the “coolest outdoor movie theaters” in the world by Condé Nast Traveler. Make sure to visit its iconic concession stand to complete the experience.
