Living in Central South Austin

Here are some of our favorite things to do in the area.

Outdoor Explore – Mary Moore Searight Metro Park off of Slaughter Lane never strays too far from civilization, but if you pick your spots carefully one can find some tranquil areas where it’s possible to leave the bustle behind. The park features six miles of trails with intermittent recreational areas for families including picnic and barbecue areas, two basketball courts, an 18 hole disc golf course, a fishing pier, a soccer field, two tennis courts, two volleyball courts, and a playground.

Shopping – Everything you need and more can be found in South Austin’s Southpark Meadows shopping district just off I-35. You can spend the day strolling through the dozens of stores along the strip, catch a bite to eat along the way, or stop for a movie at the Cinemark.

Have a Drink – Nestled in the same area off of South Congress, a handful of breweries and wineries can be found in South Austin. St. Elmo Brewing Company is a bar & beer garden with rotating craft taps & an on-site fried chicken food truck. Right next door, The Austin Winery is where you can find handcrafted, premium wines from 100% Texas fruit. If you’re looking to try something new, Texas Sake Co. is the only producer of sake in the state, so be sure to check out their bold flavors.
