Living in Central East Austin
One of the fastest growing neighborhoods the city has to offer, central East Austin embraces both old and new. Everywhere you look, you’ll discover rich cultural history. No matter what type of cuisine, atmosphere, or activity you’re looking for, East Central Austin has it.

Here are some of our favorite things to do in the area.

Boutiques and vintage shops – The furniture and home goods boutique ‘take heart’ showcases local and US artists, as well as a selection of international designers, with an emphasis on Japanese design. Up the street you’ll also find Charm School Vintage, a clothing store focused on finding new homes for one-of-a-kind garments for men and women. They may be interested in buying your own vintage items from you, too!

Fresh Eats – World-renowned Franklin Barbecue can be found off 11th Street, but to secure a spot in line, make sure you come early so don’t miss out on their delicious brisket! Hay Elotes has a wide array of Mexican snacks, including its namesake corn with a mixture of mayonnaise, chile and lime. For a combination of delicious breakfast food and unmatched hospitality, grab a bite at Paperboy. They offer a seasonal menu with produce and dairy from local farms, bread from local bakeries, and hot and cold brewed coffee from local roasters.

Enjoy the Outdoors – If you’re looking to spend the day outdoors, little ones and parents alike will love Lott Park, one of the city’s 20 ‘pocket parks,’ designed as a little getaway for neighbors rather than citywide attractions. Lott Park has all the essentials – a playground complete with slides and swings, a basketball court, a grill for cookouts and an uncrowded splash pad for quick relief from the summer heat.
